Christmas Card 2007

We found Misty Richmond http://www.mistyrichmondphotography.com/ through Daily Candy Kids and had a mini photo shoot with her at the Lafayette Reservoir last month. This is the picture we picked for this year's Christmas cards

Do as I say, not as I do

So in theory, having a blog is efficient. No need to write 50 bazillion e-mails or send tons of pictures--just post here. That's the key though. At my co-worker, Vera's going-away party last night I kept hounding her (and her sweet boyfriend Matt) to start a blog. "You're moving across the country--you're driving--you're going to having exciting adventures!" I don't think they bought it. Keeping my fingers crossed . . .

Meanwhile back at the ranch, we are doing well. I went to Kindergarten registration for Jane yesterday at Springhill. She is really excited about going this fall. We mentioned to her last night that I never went to Kindergarten (well only for two weeks), but started in first grade. She started asking questions that I couldn't answer (mainly "Why?") and I told her to ask Grandma, because frankly I don't know either.

Jane has also been working with Tess on potty training with success. We came up with the brilliant idea to bribe them both with candy. If Jane can get Tess to go, they both get candy. We are hoping to be out of diapers forever before they lose all their teeth and weigh 900 pounds.

Thanksgiving

We have a lot to be thankful for this year: a happy, healthy family back in our remodeled home after six months in a rental in 2005. Mark and I refer to the Orinda home as "Granny's Treehouse" or "Mr. Dan's House"--while Jane has chosen to block out the memory altogether.

It's Pak Family tradition to get together for Thanksgiving and this year was no exception. Aunt Sandi, Uncle Jim, Tommy, Lucy and BITO (bun in the oven); Aunt Michelle, Uncle Anthony and Ben; Aunt Pokey and Uncle Vinod; Grandma and Grandpa and the honorary Pak Girl, Aunt/Cousin Charlene and Uncle Dave. Pokey, Vinod, Charlene and Dave stayed with us and undoubtedly delayed expanding their families by being around our children for an extended period of time. They were terrific with Jane and Tess and we were glad they had time for an extended visit.

The big adventure was Black Friday, which I have had the good fortune of missing for another year (someone had to stay home with the children!). My favorite (and probably most useful) item Mark bought was a Super G wireless router, that Vinod set up for us. Incredible deal Uncle V found!

Saturday night Mark and I went to a wedding at our next door neighbors' home. It was a beautiful, fun time even though we didn't know anyone except our other neighbors, the Smit-Whites. We are looking forward to having the Wittbecks on our little street. The best part about it was, we could walk over in about 10 seconds. Pokey and Vinod graciously agreed to babysit for us.

Yesterday, all four Pak girls and their families went to Sunol for the holiday train ride. Despite the freezing weather and intermittent rain, everyone seemed to have a great time. Michelle, Anthony and Ben made a wonderful train cake that took nine hours to make. It was so pretty and clever--we took pictures that we hope to post one of these days.

As you can tell from my attempts to post vacation pictures, I'm still learning . . . :)

Our Family Blog

In an attempt to try and keep our family and friends updated on our family's latest adventures, I thought it would be fun to start our own blog. Of course, this is coming from the family who has yet to put together a wedding or photo album . . .

Jane has memorized her Nana and Papa's phone number and has also realized that she can pick up the phone and dial it herself. They have been the amused recipients of some rather random phone calls. She gets our phone number intertwined with our address. Mark feels secure knowing that if she is ever in trouble, at least someone will be contacted.

Tess has mastered the art of double pacy-ing (two pacifiers at one time) and is quite proud of herself. She likes to carry all of her pacifiers in a little baggie around the house. The problem is that when that baggie disappears, we're all in trouble. We have had to purchase additional pacifiers to, you know, pacify.

We are getting ready to have the extended Pak family over for Thanksgiving. It will be fun to have everyone over to stuff overselves silly, pass out in food comas and revive ourselves with lots of fun games/Black Friday planning. Stay tuned for pictures!
